Principles

In the example http://www.marcelvanmackelenbergh.nl/wine/top.pl
I try to combine most of the theories found on this website. I created a faceted interface. The interface shows a couple of classifications at the same time:

  • the goal of the information
  • the situation the reader is in
  • the reader
  • the type of information
  • the language
  • the subject (wine)

I hope you recognize the division in subject oriented (wine) and reader oriented (goal, situation and reader) classifications.

I chose a wording that appeals to most (dutch) people.

Except for the pages under the subject wine, I only linked to pages that help someone do something.

Assignment

Please, try out this interface by giving yourself an assignment dealing with wine. For example, find two bottles of a nice wine below 10 Euro (for two bottles) for a dinner with your boss. The dinner is lobster. Where can you buy it? The dinner is already in three days time.
